How Do We Provide Cutting Edge Parachutes at a Fraction of the Cost and Time

At Valkyrie Recovery Systems (VRS), we pride ourselves on our meticulous and comprehensive development process designed to deliver top-tier parachute recovery systems. Our process ensures that every project phase is executed with precision and expertise, typically taking between 6 to 24 months. Below is an overview of our seven-phase development process:

Phase 1: Initial Information and Requirements
  • Customer Engagement: The process begins with the customer filling out a detailed questionnaire specifying their flight profile, special requirements, weight, volume constraints, and any other critical information.
  • Confidentiality: Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) are signed to protect sensitive information.
  • Feasibility Meeting: A meeting is scheduled to confirm VRS's capability to undertake the project, either in person or via email.
Phase 2: Design
  • Collaborative Design Meetings: We hold several design meetings to develop the necessary drawings and establish a clear path forward.
  • Critical Design Review (CDR): The design phase culminates with a Critical Design Review to ensure all requirements are met before proceeding to testing.
Phase 3: Ground Testing
  • Comprehensive Testing: This phase includes pull testing of critical load members, fit checks, bench extraction testing, staging device testing, and deployment method testing.
  • Customer Review: Detailed testing reports are delivered to the customer for review and approval.
Phase 4: Drop/Dynamic Testing
  • Air and Dynamic Tests: We conduct at least three air drops from an airplane, sounding rocket or balloon, along with three dynamic tests, including shock and pyro-mechanical testing.
  • Manufacturing Readiness Review (MRR): Upon completion, testing reports and a Manufacturing Readiness Review are provided to the customer.
Phase 5: Manufacturing
  • Production Compliance: Flight articles are manufactured in strict compliance with the approved drawings and design specifications.
  • Compliance Reporting: Compliance reports are provided to the customer as part of the manufacturing process.
Phase 6: Rigging, Integration, Launch, and Recovery Support
  • System Integration: We ensure proper packing and on-site integration of the parachute recovery system.
  • Mission Support: Comprehensive flight and recovery support are provided to ensure a successful mission and accurate data gathering.
Phase 7: After Action Review (AAR)
  • Performance Analysis: A thorough analysis of the parachute recovery system’s performance is conducted.
  • Issue Resolution: If necessary, we determine and address any failures or issues that arose during the project.

By following this structured and rigorous process, VRS ensures that every aspect of your parachute recovery system is crafted with the utmost attention to detail and quality. Partner with Valkyrie Recovery Systems to ensure your recovery system not only meets but exceeds your expectations.
